JHS take responsibility for the products and services offered with regard to the effect they have on the environment, and are committed to minimising the impact of their commercial and industrial activities on the environment. They have just secured BREEAM certification for two of their commercial carpet collections: Milan Plus and Ballantrae Plus, which both achieved A+ and A ratings..

Certification process

The certification and audit process began on Milan Plus and Ballantrae Plus in September 2011 with the production of a pre-assessment report based on a wide range of documentary evidence. There then followed two site visits to the carpet factory in Belgium, the first in September 2012 and the second in April 2013.

These site visits enabled BRE Global auditors to review the wide ranging responsible sourcing processes, taking into account every aspect of the production processes, including energy use, waste measurement and management, emissions, packaging and transport.

In July this year, the certification process was complete with JHS Contract Carpets securing A and A+ ratings and very good Ecopoint scores for both Milan Plus and Ballantrae Plus carpet collections.
