NABERS Energy for Offices

There are two product offerings available in the UK for offices buildings: Design for Performance to drive energy efficient new buildings, and NABERS Energy for Offices ratings to measure how energy efficient existing buildings are.

NABERS Energy measures the efficiency of an existing office building and rates its in-use performance. The energy rating works by comparing the energy consumption of a building against a set of benchmarks that have been developed using actual data.

Offices can be rated in three ways: Base Building, Tenancy and Whole Building ratings. Base building ratings allow buildings to be rated based on their central services like heating, cooling systems and lifts. Tenancy ratings enables energy used by the tenant to be rated, typically for lighting and power, plus special tenancy requirements for local a/c. Whole building ratings provide assessment of energy used by office tenancies and by Base Building services to lettable and common spaces.

To get a NABERS Energy rating you need an Accredited Assessor to undertake an assessment of your building.
