Responsible Sourcing Credits for BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes

Adoption and use of the BES 6001: Framework standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products will provide a means to obtaining credits under the responsible sourcing issue in BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes.

BREEAM has reviewed the standard and the requirements of each of the rating levels and mapped these on to the BREEAM responsible sourcing tiers. Responsible sourcing schemes compliant with the Pass and Good rating recieve 2 points and schemes compliant with a Very Good and Excellent recieve 3 points.

This change is affective immediately for BREEAM non domestic schemes. The change in the Code for Sustainable Homes will be effective from the publication of the next update of the CSH, due to be pubished in April and to go live in May 2009.
