BRE is now providing a BIM Level 2 Training and Certification Pathway, to help construction professionals develop the necessary skills to meet the BIM challenge and new ways of working.
The Government’s BIM Strategy requires the delivery of BIM Level 2 using set process standards such as PAS1192-2:2013, which identifies specific roles to facilitate the delivery of information, namely an Information Manager (project or task) and a Project Delivery Manager.
BRE is now providing a BIM Level 2 Training and Certification Pathway, to help construction professionals develop the necessary skills to meet the BIM challenge and new ways of working.
Pauline Traetto, Director of BRE Academy, said: “With our involvement at the cutting edge of BIM standards and research, and working with our partner Avanti Partnership, we are one of the few organisations that can provide an independent, in-depth training for BIM. We are the only organisation currently providing this training to BIM Level 2, in accordance with PAS1192/2 and BS1192.”
The training and certification pathway will comprise a series of BIM Accredited training programmes and examination, which will lead on to a certificated professional status. For Information Managers:
For Project Delivery Managers:
Information Management has become an important role in the delivery of BIM Level 2 and will ensure that all members of the team implement the standards, methods and protocols ensuring that the checks required before sharing data have been carried out to meet compliance. The role is likely to be fluid within the design-build-manage process and is not associated with a specific profession or job title.
The BIM Level 2 courses involve two day training for Information Managers, three days for Project Delivery Managers, plus an examination. Training is provided by the BRE Academy, the arm of BRE dedicated to fostering better education and skills, and lead the profession by delivering educational excellence.
The certification of qualified practitioners under a certificated professional scheme is then provided by BRE Global, the BRE Group’s independent certification body.
