Former Chief Executive at Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust has been appointed Director of Environmental Markets, a new role at BRE.
Environmental markets has been identified as a high growth area for BRE. Building on the success of BREEAM, Jane will be responsible for developing a range of BRE products and services in this area.
Jane says “There are strong links between a healthy natural environment and a healthy economy and society. If businesses and developments are to be viable in the long term, the ecosystems and natural resources they depend on must be maintained. Knowledge in this area is evolving but I hope that we will be able to develop products that incentivise businesses to innovate and integrate the natural environment into their decision making and activities.”
She also has responsibility for the International Sustainability Alliance (ISA), a membership organisation consisting of a global network of leading corporate occupiers, property investors, developers and owners who want to benchmark and share best practice in the sustainable management of their property portfolios.
Jane is a chartered accountant and has an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford. In addition to Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, she has worked for KPMG, environmental charity BioRegional Development Group and the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 where she led a programme of independent sustainability assurance.
