21 May 2018 - LEEDS - BREEAM UK New Construction 2018: What's changed?

Details :

Back in September 2016, BREEAM began the process of updating its UK New Construction 2014 scheme. After 18 months of technical development, and multiple rounds of consultation, the 2018 UK New Construction scheme went live on the 7th March.

Join us to hear about some of the key changes and their benefits. Some of the more significant changes are within the Energy, Materials, Transport and Land use and Ecology categories, summarised as follows:

The Ene 01 issue has been updated to reward the use of more detailed energy modelling. An optional Post-occupancy stage has been introduced to enable actual performance over the first year of occupation to be compared with modelled data.

  • The Materials category has shifted emphasis to focus on the life cycle impacts of the building as a whole, as opposed to the impact at an elemental level.
  • The Transport category has been restructured from 5 issues down to just two, focusing on rewarding improvements rather simply rewarding sites which have inherently good access (often as a result of being in a city centre).
  • The Ecology issues have been updated to reflect the principles of the strategic ecology framework. The criteria encourages a holistic approach for embedding best practice ecology practices across the entire lifecycle of the building.
