Building of the month
Lely Campus in Maassluis

On 30 January Queen Máxima of the Netherlands officially opened the international head office of the Lely Group (a worldwide market leader in dairy farm automation) in Maasluis, a city near Rotterdam. Designed by ConsortArchitects and constructed by Dura Vermeer, the building has been awarded a BREEAM-NL Outstanding rating. Read more

2014 BREEAM Awards at Ecobuild on 4 March

Changes to SMARTWaste

This year brings changes to SMARTWaste with the current free SMARTWaste Plan stopping on the 16 March 2014. Current users are being offered an exclusive deal to join the SMARTWaste membership scheme and continue to make full use of the scheme. Read more

BREEAM UK New construction 2011 update to 2014 version

After nine months of industry consultation and development, BRE will publish the draft 2014 version of the BREEAM UK New Construction scheme. Read more

MCS certificated pitched roof mounting kit become mandatory

Using MCS certificated pitched roof mounting kits will be mandatory for MCS PV and solar thermal installations on pitched roofs from 31 March 2014. BRE Global is accredited for certifying products to MCS 012 – call 0333 321 88 11 or e-mail microgenproducts@bre.co.uk

Call for manufacturers to join solid wall retrofit project

Manufactuers and installers of innovative products and systems are being invited to participate in research into the effective and economic retrofitting of insulation in 1950s solid wall concrete homes. Read more and complete PQQ.

Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) document updated

Four microgeneration product MCS documents and seven installer scheme documents were updated in December 2013. Read more

Bricks leads the way

The Brick Development Association’s (BDA) generic brick is the first construction industry product to be verified under BRE Global’s recently launched EN15804 Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) scheme. Read more
